Adult Mental Health First Aid (MHFA)

The Adult MHFA Two Day course gives you:

  • A deeper understanding of mental health and the factors that can affect people’s well-being, including your own

  • Practical skills to spot the triggers and signs of mental health issues

  • Confidence to step in, reassure and support a person in distress using the MHFA action plan

  • Enhanced interpersonal skills such as non-judgmental listening

  • Knowledge to help someone recover their health by guiding them to appropriate support whether through self-help resources, internal support such as EAP, or external sources such as their GP

  • An understanding of how to keep themselves safe while performing their duties

Practical mental health skills and awareness training is a key component for creating a safe, healthy workplace where the mental health and physical health of employees are valued equally. It gives people the tools to support their own mental health and that of their colleagues, and encourages them to access timely support when needed.

MHFA England training won’t teach you to be a therapist, but just like physical first aid, it will teach you to listen, reassure and respond, even in a crisis.

Adult MHFA Two Day courses are for everyone aged 16 upwards.

Learning takes place through a mix of group activities, presentations and discussions. Each session is built around a MHFA action plan.

Participant numbers are limited to 16 people per course so that the Instructor can keep people safe and supported while they learn.
